Draper – Men & Machines

“A psychedelic exploration into love, loss and the importance of bath times.”
Released on the 17th of June and already fetching near 100,000 views, this incredible hand-drawn animated music promo was created by Chris Bristow for dubstep sensation, Draper’s new track, Men and Machines.
In a mechanical world, we follow a forlorn robot mourning the loss of a loved one. Pouring himself a bath of cogs and oil, the radio accidentally slips into the bath surging huge electric currents through the tub and our robot. In time with the dubstep drop, the robot bursts full with colour, frenetic energy and insane visuals. Suspended in high voltage, the robot starts to experience huge swells of human emotion. Tripping out in midair, the robot returns with more electric household objects eager to feel again.
Combining overlaying metal textures, Chris wanted to create an etched metal effect. Like the track, he wanted the animation to switch from seemingly low key and patient at times to explosive and surging.
Animator and Director, Chris Bristow describes this promo as a “psychedelic exploration into love, loss and the importance of bath times.”
