This stunning Channel 4 drama has been an utter delight for Munky to work on. Set in 1930’s Simla, the epic ten part drama that is Indian Summers, tells the story of the British ruling elite as they descend on the foothills for the oncoming summer months. Tensions begin to rise as the pampered and privileged ruling class begin to feel the effects of the mounting pressure of the Indian desire for ‘Home Rule’.
It boasts an all star cast, led by Julie Walters as Cynthia, and including Henry Lloyd- Hughes (The Inbetweeners, Madame Bovary) as Ralph Whelan, Jemima West (The Borgias) as his sister Alice, Nikesh Patel (Honour) as Aafrin, and Roshan Seth (A Passage to India) playing his father, Darius.
Munky have been with this project from early on, with our very own Gary Brown heading over to Penang for on set shoot supervision last summer. Since then it has been a real thrill working on all of the beautiful footage. Our artists worked on a wide variety of shots, mostly ensuring all of the scenery looked as spectacular as possible, but also ranging from starry sky vistas to ensuring buildings looked authentically dated, as well as some green screen work. It was the desire of the production team, as well as Gary and the rest of the guys here, that Simla looked as beautiful and realistic as possible and we’re very proud of the final results.
Series 2 is currently on Channel 4 at 9pm!
